My Favorite Yoga Studios in Bangkok

I attended my first yoga class at 17 with one of my best friends. He talked it up for weeks and finally persuaded me to join him. Our instructor was a fit, seasoned yogi who pushed us harder than I’d expected! But even though it made an impression, yoga didn’t immediately become a favorite of mine. At that time, I was into high-energy workouts like running and P90X, so although I appreciated the stretching benefits (yes, I could do splits, straddles, you name it), yoga didn’t seem as exciting.

Fast-forward to my university years, a different friend, a yoga enthusiast, convinced me to enroll in an “Introduction to Yoga” class for a semester. “It’s such an easy A!” she promised. Well, that supposedly laid-back class turned out to be anything but easy! I learned basic postures and Sanskrit names and even led a session as my final. Little by little, yoga began to resonate with me, and I started to look at it as more than just stretching. My appreciation was finally taking root.

When I eventually moved to Bangkok, I was thrilled to find a yoga scene as vibrant as the city itself. I decided to explore, trying classes at 11 different studios, each unique. Here are my top picks!

1. Yogasana

Location: About a 28-minute walk from Ekkamai BTS.

If you’re drawn to creative spaces, Yogasana might be just your place. This one-of-a-kind studio is fashioned from shipping containers and has a cozy, industrial-chic vibe. The studio is intimate and airy with its floor-to-ceiling windows and mirrored walls, perfect for finding your focus. I also love that they provide thick, cushioned mats, which make it comfortable to hold poses for extended periods. And after an intense class, complimentary water is a welcome perk.

The owner, an Indian instructor, teaches in a style that balances challenge and support, which keeps me coming back. Just a heads-up, though: there aren’t any showers here, so plan your day accordingly.

2. Siva Yoga

Location: It is close to my condo and easily accessible via a quick Bolt or Grab ride from the Ekkamai BTS station.

Siva Yoga was a delightful discovery, thanks to its high ratings and ClassPass-friendly credits. Here, you get mats, blocks, and those all-important sweat pads (essential for us extra-sweaty yogis) without additional cost. The studio’s small size creates an intimate class environment with just the right student-to-teacher ratio.

What sets Siva apart is its supportive, bilingual instructors who make everyone feel welcome and safe, whether you’re a newbie or a seasoned practitioner. The water refill station is free, so don’t forget your bottle. The studio is a bit further from any BTS or MRT, but it’s worth the short ride for the vibe.

3. Asana

Location: 8 Thonglor Shopping Center, about a 15-minute walk from Thong Lo BTS.

Asana is for those who appreciate luxury. It’s set in a beautifully designed space with a spotless locker room, and they even provide free face and body towels. The vibe here is more polished than casual, and the crowd can feel exclusive. I call it the “Housewives of Thonglor” effect. But if you can tune that out, you’ll find that the classes are both challenging and rewarding.

Despite the polished atmosphere, the classes are well-paced, and the instructors bring their A-game. It’s perfect if you want a solid practice with a touch of class.

4. Parampara Yoga and Wellness

Location: Two minutes from Phra Khanong BTS.

With its spacious interior and wall-length mirrors, Parampara Yoga feels both professional and welcoming. My favorite classes are the early morning ones, which sometimes feel like private sessions with only a few students—on rare occasions, just me! The head instructor here is also Indian, and his teaching style is immersive and grounded, with an intensity that can be challenging but satisfying.

Although the space and equipment are pristine, note that there are no showers, so if you’re headed somewhere after class, plan accordingly. Beginners may want to start with some foundational classes before trying Parampara’s offerings, as they tend to lean toward the more intense side of yoga.

5. The Green Room

Location: About 1.5 km walk from Phrom Phong BTS.

The Green Room feels like an escape to Bali. Walking in, you’re greeted by lush plants, Balinese-inspired decor, and a collection of gongs and sound bowls, setting a perfectly relaxing ambiance. The owners radiate warmth and positivity, and the studio feels lovingly curated.

One minor inconvenience is that there’s only one restroom and shower, which can get crowded, especially after a full class. I’ve found it helpful to arrive a bit early to avoid the post-class bottleneck. This studio attracts primarily expats, and every instructor I’ve encountered speaks fluent English. Its setting within a larger complex also adds convenience—an organic restaurant, coffee shop, beauty salon, coworking space, and even a Japanese onsen on-site!
